Welcome to the practice of Dr. Kore Nissenson, PhD.  Dr. Nissenson works with individuals and couples experiencing a wide range of psychological issues, such as anxiety, stress and depression.  She has expert training in the treatment of psychological problems arising from trauma.

Dr. Nissenson specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This treatment  focuses on identifying problems and developing solutions for change.  CBT has been recognized as one of the most effective means of treating a wide variety of psychological issues, including anxiety, depression and stress.

CBT focuses on modifying thought patterns and destructive or avoidant behaviors that maintain negative feelings.  Therapy focuses on learning new skills to change emotions like anger, worry, or sadness. These skills may include communication or assertiveness training, stress management, sleep strategies, relaxation techniques, and modified thinking styles.

Dr. Nissenson is also trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).  In DBT, clients are taught coping skills such as mindfulness mediation or emotion regulation techniques to manage mood swings, relationship and interpersonal problems, impulse urges, and difficulty with concentration and focus.
